Covering a wide range of subjects, many in the National Curriculum delivered by our teachers to allow children to enjoy and learn

at LADYLAND FARM:

Science

  • Living and Growing - Form and Function.

  • Fertilisation in plants and animals - Incubation, Birth, Insect Lifecycle.

  • Food Chains - Herbivores, Carnivores, Omnivores - Structural Adaptations, Skeletons, Teeth.

  • Evolution - Survival, Pecking Order.

  • Nature's Cycles - Water, Muck, Organic Recycling, Role of Bacteria on a Farm.

  • Food and Farming - on a Mixed Farm.

  • Preservation of Food, Drying, Pickling, etc.

History

  Re-enacting life on a farm in costume

  • Food - From raw materials to the end product. Making Bread in baker's oven, Cream, Cheese, Butter, Cider, Mead, Wine. Herbs and Medicines

  • Clothing - Wool, Leather, Feathers, Felt, etc.

  • Utilities - Lighting and Fuel - Candle making.

  • Harvest Activities - Cereals, Hay making.

Information is specifically aimed at the age group of the children visiting, be it pre-school from age 3 to key stage 1, 2, 3 and GCSE

Structure of the Day (flexible to your requirements): In order to allow the children hands-on teaching at the farm, we have a structured day with our own teachers,

    10:30 Arrive at Farm

    10:30-12:30 Conducted hands-on teaching

    12:30-1:00 Lunch (Tea & Cakes available at £2.00 per head for teachers)

    1:00-1:30 Play in field (on straw bales and tractors etc.)

    1:30-2:00 Tractor ride and each child gets a badge.

    Pre-Sats day visits would aim to cover/revise many of the above subjects

£6 per person incl. tractor ride & a badge.
